Contrary to Coronavirus Guidelines, Large Crowds Gather at Bonfires in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh

By & the Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke on Monday night with Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, the Acting Police Commissioner, the head of the National Security Council (NSC), and other factors following the breaching of the guidelines and the lighting of Lag B'Omer bonfires that led to mass crowds in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh. NSC head Meir Ben Shabat said in the conversation that this was a behavior that could lead to a new outbreak of coronavirus. The Prime Minister said that he strongly condemns the breach of the rules and instructed that enforcement be immediately increased and the crowds dispersed. The conversation took place after hundreds of people gathered around a bonfire in the Mea She'arim neighborhood of Jerusalem, contrary to the directives of the Ministry of Health and the Cabinet decision to ban bonfires as part of the effort to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Bonfires were also lit in other places in Jerusalem and Beit Shemesh. Forces from the Yasam police unit dispersed the crowd in Mea She'arim. A statement from the Israel Police read, "Police forces have dispersed the gathering of several hundred residents of Mea She'arim in Jerusalem, which took place contrary to the guidelines in the Public Health Order." One person was arrested. A video tweeted by Channel 12 News shows crowds singing and dancing while very few people were seen wearing masks or observing basic social distancing guidelines. Another bonfire was lit in Jerusalem's Zichron Moshe neighborhood, drawing dozens of participants. In Bnei Brak, hundreds of residents gathered around a fire lit in the middle of Damesek Eliezer Street. A police force that arrived on the scene immediately extinguished the flames and dispersed the crowds. Amid the coronavirus outbreak, Israel banned the traditional act of lighting bonfires for the holiday. The only exceptions to the rule were three bonfires which received approval to be lit at the tomb of Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai in Meron. But even at the tomb, instead of some 250,000 people gathering there to celebrate the Talmudic sage, only a gathering of some 50 people were allowed at the three different site locations. This is the third major Jewish holiday this year to be celebrated since the coronavirus outbreak began, after Purim and Passover. Purim celebrations, which took place in early March, had few limitations placed on them regarding public gatherings, which many credit to exacerbating the spread of coronavirus in the country. During Passover however, a full lockdown was placed on the country. Despite the lockdown, President Reuven Rivlin, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Yisrael Beytenu head Avigdor Liberman and Likud MK Yoav Galant were all caught breaking social distancing rules and hosting Seders with loved ones, which led many to criticize their inability to lead by example. Israel's ultra-Orthodox population has been disproportionately hit by the novel coronavirus, with the cities of Jerusalem and Bnei Brak far outpacing all other Israeli cities in the number of cases confirmed. The city of Jerusalem has, in past months, placed heavy restrictions and selective lockdowns on Mea Shearim and other ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods in an effort to curb the spread of the virus. In early April, Haaretz reported that 75% of coronavirus cases in Jerusalem are residents of ultra-Orthodox neighborhoods.

Annexation?! Jews Must Be Killed, Wherever They're Found,' Demands Hamas Official

By United with Israel

Hamas official Yunis Al-Astal said during a broadcast on the terror group's official channel Al-Aqsa TV (Hamas-Gaza) that Israeli annexation of Jewish communities in Judea and Samara is "a crime against the will of Allah," declaring that Jews are the most "corrupt" of all creatures" form whom God has "has prescribed humiliation, misery, and wrath." According to Al-Astal, Jews are "more dangerous than the coronavirus" and "are planning to occupy parts of the Arabian Peninsula, including Medina." He is therefore urging the Hamas parliament to recommend "killing Jews wherever they may be found."

Mossad Mission to Capture Architect of the Holocaust

By AFP & YnetNews
On May 11, 1960, Nazi war criminal Adolf Eichmann was nabbed by a team of Israeli spies after years on the run in Argentina, ending a long manhunt. Ten days later, drugged and dressed as a crew member of Israeli flag carrier El Al, he was smuggled to Israel by Mossad agents and put on trial. The architect of the Nazis' "Final Solution", under which six million European Jews were exterminated during World War II, Eichmann was tried and hanged in 1962, aged 56. Here is an account, based on AFP coverage from the time and since, of the top secret operation, details of which filtered out over the years. "The security services found one of the great Nazi war criminals, Adolf Eichmann," Prime Minister David Ben Gurion announced on May 23, adding that he was under arrest in Israel and would face trial, in a masterstroke hailed by the Israeli press. Eichmann's name and his role as architect of the Nazis' killing machine had surfaced during the Nuremberg war crimes trials which took place from 1945-1946. He had been charged with organizing and coordinating the deportation of Jews to death camps in Eastern Europe. The former chief of Section IV B.4 of the Gestapo, responsible for the so-called "Jewish question", had vanished after the "Third Reich" collapsed in May 1945. Before fleeing he had destroyed documentary evidence of his activities and photos that could identify him. A manhunt was launched in 1945, led by prominent figures in the Jewish community, including famous Nazi hunter Simon Wiesenthal, who himself had escaped a concentration camp. The breakthrough came in 1957 when the prosecutor of the German state of Hesse, Fritz Bauer, tipped off the Israeli secret service that Eichmann was in hiding in Argentina, under the false name of Ricardo Klement. It took Mossad more than two years to locate him, living in a home without running water and electricity in the neighborhood of San Fernando on the outskirts of Buenos Aires. During a March 1960 mission Mossad agents, using photos, formally established that Ricardo Klement was the former lieutenant-colonel Eichmann. Mossad spy Tzvi Aharoni, who shadowed him and sat behind him on a bus said: "The temptation to lean forward and strangle him was almost irresistible."But I knew he had to be put on trial and not be assassinated for those he had killed," he told AFP. With Ben Gurion's green light, the abduction was planned meticulously under the leadership of the Israeli secret service chief Isser Harel. The mission was given to Mossad operative Rafi Eitan, who later recalled: "When I was given this mission, I knew that if we succeeded, we would enter Israel's history and the history of humanity." The abduction was set for May 11. A foreman at a Mercedes-Benz factory, Eichmann returned every evening to his home on Garibaldi Street, taking the same bus at the same time. Shortly after 8:05 pm he was nabbed as he got off the bus. He put up some resistance, and called for help before being dragged into a car and hidden under a blanket. Eichmann shouted in German to his abductors: "I have already accepted my fate." He was taken to a safe house rented for the mission, where he was chained to a bed and blindfolded. On May 20, the Mossad squad took him on a false Israeli passport on a special plane used by the Israeli delegation which had come to celebrate the 150th anniversary of Argentina's independence. On April 11, 1961 the captured Eichmann, facing 15 charges, appeared for the first time in public in a glass booth in a Jerusalem court, which would question some 111 witnesses. "Wearing a black suit, a dark tie over a white shirt and large horn-rimmed glasses, the accused, ashen, clean shaven and tight-lipped, entered at 9 a.m. in the glass box reserved for him," AFP wrote. Writer Haim Gouri said: "The trial gave the survivors of the genocide, for the first time, the possibility of being heard." some 450 foreign journalists, 100 observers and diplomats attended the different hearings. Among them was author and concentration camp survivor Elie Wiesel and American Jewish philosopher Hannah Arendt, who published in 1963 a major book on the subject, "Eichmann in Jerusalem: A Report on the Banality of Evil". Eichmann was sentenced to death on December 15 after being convicted on all counts, including crimes against the Jewish people, crimes against humanity and war crimes. On May 29, 1962, his appeal was rejected by the Supreme Court. He was hanged on May 31 at midnight and his ashes were scattered at sea.

GOD-TV Denies Israeli Show Seeks to Convert Jews; Just 'Believe Jesus is Messiah'

By World Israel News

The head of a new Evangelical channel that broadcasts on Israeli cable in Hebrew hit back at critics, denying that its purpose was to convert Jews to Christianity, which is illegal in the Jewish state. CEO of GOD-TV Ward Simpson put out a video statement to his supporters that explained that the Shelanu ("Ours") station is "broadcasting Christian content," but that their lawyers have assured him that "we are following the rules and regulations" regarding what they can and can't say. "There's no way they can pull us off the air," he said. The Evangelical leader acknowledged that Israeli law forbids proselytizing Jews, describing the show as one in which "we just preach and teach and share Christian content and let the Lord do the rest." He then indicated that the channel only wants to widen the community of Messianic Jews in Israel. "They don't convert, they continue to live life as Jews, continue to practice Judaism for the most part, they just believe that Yeshua (Jesus) is the messiah and they follow him," he explained. Shelanu TV started airing two weeks ago on the HOT cable network. The Cable and Satellite Broadcasting Council that granted its license had been told that its shows would be aimed at the pro-Israel Christian community, according to a report Monday in Haaretz. The Council began an investigation after Simpson boasted on his website that "GOD-TV has been given government permission to broadcast the gospel of Jesus Christ, Yeshua the messiah, in Israel, on cable television, in the Hebrew language." Saying that it was the first time in history, he continued, "God has supernaturally opened the door for us to take the gospel of Jesus into the homes and lives and hearts of His Jewish people." In Simpson's statement, he said he had used inappropriate wording in announcing the channel's license and apologized for it. Speaking quietly, Simpson insisted, "The last thing we want to do is to create havoc in Israel… become a problem over there," acknowledging that "preaching about Jesus" is a "touchy subject." However, he stressed a core belief of the Evangelical community. "We're Christians, and we're called to go into all the world and preach the gospel. That's what we're trained to do, and that's what we're doing," he said. It is "what we do, and that's who we are." Simpson said he had faith in Israel's judicial system to uphold their right to broadcast, but even if the TV license is revoked, his community should continue to support Israel. "It's our mandate to love and bless Israel, regardless of what happens with the Shelanu channel… to be her champion and watchman on her walls," he said.

Two Earthquakes in Israel, One in Vatican City

By & Breaking Israel News Two earthquakes shook northern Israel on Monday morning within an hour of each other. The first quake occurred at 5:58 a.m. Monday morning, and measured 3.2 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was 14 kilometers (8.7 miles) northeast of Beit She'an, and the effects were felt both in the city and in nearby areas. "This is a common event along they Syrian-African rift," the Geological Institute noted. The second quake, which occurred at 6:53 a.m. Monday morning, measured 2.7 on the Richter scale. Its epicenter was in the Mediterranean Sea, 50 kilometers (31.1 miles) west of Nahariya. Jordan also reported an earthquake on Monday morning. According to reports, the Jordanian quake measured 3.5 on the Richter scale, and was centered 24 kilometers (14.9 miles) west of the city of Irbid in northern Jordan. One rabbi with an auspicious lineage, linked their coincidence with the current pandemic, suggesting a timely divine message with ominous implications. Italy is seismically active with frequent earthquakes and several active volcanoes. A major earthquake in Rome could bring its signature ancient stone ruins tumbling to the ground. It would, of course, also shake the seat of the Catholic Church. Rabbi Yosef Dayan, a former member of the Sanhedrin and descendant of King David, noted a direct connection between the two earthquakes linking the Vatican and the Holy land. "We are currently in a reality dominated by the coronavirus," Rabbi Dayan noted. "By its very name which means `crown', Corona hints at God's aspect of ????? (malchut, kingship). The entire purpose of the coronavirus is to awaken all of mankind to the perversion of the concept of kingship in the world. Rulers may only rule by the grace of God. The moment a government rejects God, becomes anti-God, then God will step in and show them who is really in charge." The rabbi explained that the near-simultaneous earthquakes were "God shaking the one who stole his crown while pointing to where the crown truly should be. In this case, the Vatican was established as a replacement for Solomon's Temple, as if there could ever be such a thing. As the true Temple becomes imminent, the existence of the Vatican, a fake version of the Temple in Jerusalem, becomes more offensive to the king whose throne was in Israel. This gentle earthquake was like shaking Rome awake. Remember, Italy was hit very hard by the corona-crown virus." According to statistics and seismic history, the Israeli region should experience a major quake every 80-100 years. The last major quake was on July 11, 1927, and registered 6.2 on the Richter scale killing 500 people. Another major earthquake is therefore now due. As terrifying as earthquakes can be, there may be a silver lining to an increase in regional seismic activity. In a 2007 article in the J-Post, Dr. Shmuel Marco, Head of the School of the Environment and Earth Sciences at Tel Aviv University, noted that prophets became active a certain number of years after major earthquakes. Major earthquakes were recorded in the Jordan Valley in the years 31 BCE, 363 CE, 749 CE and 1033 CE. "So roughly," wrote Marco, "we are talking about an interval of every 400 years. If we follow the patterns of nature, a major quake should be expected any time because almost a whole millennium has passed since the last strong earthquake." Massive earthquakes in Israel are prophesied to accompany the multinational Gog and Magog conflict that will signal the end of times, he said. Earthquakes and volcanoes are explicitly mentioned by the prophets as playing a role in the end of days, preparing the world by burning away impurities as a crucible is used in metallurgy to purify metal.
