U.S. Anti-Semites Attend Syrian 'Counterterrorism' Conference
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has revealed that the Syrian government's
Counterterrorism and Religious Extremism Conference is the latest conference organized by
a foreign government that has attracted American anti-Semites. The conference in Syria,
held on November 30 and December 1, brought together representatives from 25 countries
with Syrian government officials who reportedly harshly criticized the U.S. led anti-ISIS
coalition and suggested that an "International Counterterrorism Forum" be established in
Damascus instead to deal with this issue.
Syria's Justice Minister, Najm al-Ahmad, reportedly stated at the conference that the
U.S. is "interfering in other states' affairs and breaching their sovereignty under the
pretexts of humanitarianism and counterterrorism." Four of the eight Americans who
participated in the conference were from Veterans Today, a website that presents
anti-Semitic conspiracy theories as news, notes ADL.
Jim Dean, a managing editor for Veterans Today who has made claims of Israeli control
of America, attended the conference and told an Arabic-language newspaper that Veterans
Today has "unconfirmed reports that a secret U.S. organization supported by the CIA and
the Israeli Mossad carried out assassinations of Iranian nuclear scientists" and that "the
same organization has links to the Islamic State (ISIS) and it supervises, through a
specialized department, the television filming of beheadings." He further claimed that
this secret American-Israeli-supported organization supposedly "oversaw the filming of the
beheading of American journalist James Foley in August."
The delegation from Veterans Today also included Gordon Duff, Colonel Jim Hanke, and
Mike Harris, who has ties to members of the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement
(NSM) and has claimed that "Zionists" are responsible for a number of mass shootings in
America. Among the Americans was also Richard Hines, described by the Syrian media as a
former South Carolina politician who previously served in the Ronald Reagan
Coverage of the conference by Press TV, Iran's government-run English-language
satellite news network which provides a platform to well-known American anti-Semites and
Holocaust deniers, was consistent with the conference's messaging, discussing the West's
supposed "unprecedented support for terrorism in Syria" which aims "to create sectarian
tensions and destroy Syria."
Press TV also claimed that even "U.S. experts slammed Washington for interference in
Syria's internal affairs," and then presented Gordon Duff, senior editor at Veterans
Today, as an expert. Duff told Press TV that "thinking that ISIS
support they're getting, that it doesn't involve multiple intelligence agencies, that it
doesn't involve a number of governments, is unrealistic. We have to accept that we're
dealing with something that involves a broad conspiracy."
PA Mufti Demands Bodies of Synagogue Massacre Terrorists
Palestinian Authority Mufti Sheikh Muhammad Hussein demanded that Israel transfer to
the PA the bodies of the two "martyr" Arab terrorists Ghassan and Uday Abu Jamal, who
murdered five in an attack with hatchets, knives and guns on a Jerusalem synagogue in Har
Nof two weeks ago.
Hussein, who in the past said Muslims are in a religious war against the Jews - calling
them the "descendants of apes and pigs" - made the demand at a press conference at the
home of the terrorists in Jerusalem's Jabel Mukabar last Sunday, which was translated by
Palestinian Media Watch . "It is the martyrs' right for us to pray for them, and this is a
right according to sharia (Muslim law). Their relatives, friends and loved ones also have
the right to see them one last time, and no one gains anything from keeping the martyrs'
bodies," Hussein said.
Giving a glimpse of what could be expected if Israel were to give in to the demand, the
PA lavishly lauded 91 terrorists in 2012 when their bodies were returned, with Hussein
extending to them "great honor" in a speech. Hussein's request comes on the heels of the
PA media's distortion of the two terrorists as "victims," with PA and Hamas officials
justifying the murder of "terrorist" rabbis.
Attorney Raed Bashir, who represents the families of the two terrorists, was quoted by
PMW as turning the attack on its head and saying Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu should
be indicted, blaming Israel for the Arab terrorist attack. "Given that the occupation
forces are responsible for the deaths of eight people in the operation (synagogue massacre
- ed.) - six settlers and the martyrs Ghassan and Uday Abu Jamal - an indictment must be
submitted against Prime Minister of the occupation Netanyahu, as he is responsible for the
events in Jerusalem," said Bashir.
Likewise an article in a paper distributed with the official PA daily Al-Hayat
Al-Jadida called the terrorists "martyrs" and said they killed "extremist Jews...in
western occupied Jerusalem," indicating how PA designs are not merely for the eastern part
of the capital.
Hamas Shoots Seven Test Rockets in Two Days
In the past month, Hamas, the terror organization that controls the Gaza Strip, has
increased its rocket launching from Gaza into the sea, as part of test experiments for its
rocket system. In just the past two days, there have been seven such launches. Two of
them occurred Thursday morning, Walla! News reported. The threatening show of force
indicates the group's preparations for yet another terror war against Israel.
Late last month Hamas held four rocket tests in two days, with the IDF estimating that
the terrorist organization is "experimenting in order to increase rocket launching
capabilities." Likewise the terrorist organization has started rebuilding its terror
tunnels to attack Israeli citizens, after roughly 30 of them were destroyed in the last
According to an Israeli security source, Hamas leaders see that Israel has held back
and not issued an official response or action to the test rockets. Consequently, Hamas
terrorists have stepped up the pace of their launches. "Hamas is trying to signal to
Israel that they have been able to produce rockets and grow stronger, despite the closure
of tunnels along the Philadelphi Route [a narrow strip of land situated along the border
of Gaza and Egypt], where they used to smuggle weapons into different areas of the Gaza
Strip," the security official said.
At the end of Operation Protective Edge, Israeli Defense Forces officials claimed that
Hamas retained only a third of its volume of fire, thanks to multiple launches into
Israel, as well as military activity performed by air and ground forces.
Moreover, they claimed, the Egyptian army's destruction of tunnels along the
Philadelphi Route severely affected Hamas' ability to smuggle weapons into Gaza. Now,
however, Hamas is trying to regain its strength and renew its rocket and weapons arsenal
by smuggling material and weapons in through the coast of Egypt. In recent months, several
smuggling attempts have been foiled by both the Egyptian and Israeli navies.
Khamenei: America's Problems Caused by Israel's 'Domination'
In a series of tweets on Wednesday, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei claimed that the Americans'
problems are due to Israel's "domination" of the United States' government. "Brutal
treatment of black ppl isn't indeed the only anti-human rights act by US govt; look at
US's green light to #Israel's crimes.#Ferguson," read one tweet.
"The day when American nation realize their socioeconomic problems stem from domination
of #Israel over their govt, what'll happen? #Ferguson," Khamenei wrote in another one.
"The US govt has subjugated a great nation w massive resources to a criminal regime like
#Israel," a third tweet read.
Khamenei has called for Israel's destruction several times in the past. Recently, the
Iranian leader accused Israel of having "no limit or boundaries regarding viciousness,
cruelty, and trampling underfoot all human standards and ethnics. Crimes, genocide, mass
destruction, the killing of children, women and the homeless...they take pride in." He
previously said on Twitter that the Israel government was "the most wicked terrorist" in
Khamenei has also called Israel an "illegitimate and bastard regime," and further
called the United States a "smiling enemy" that is not to be trusted. His last Twitter
tirade against Israel came last month, when he referred to Israel as "barbaric" and called
to arm Palestinian Arabs in Judea and Samaria.
Oil Spill Said to be Worst in Israel's History
Israel's Environmental Protection Ministry called the oil spill from the Tran-Israel
pipeline in southern Israel one of the worst pollution events in the history of Israel on
Thursday and said the clean up will cause landscape damage and could take many months.
Millions of liters of crude oil spilled out over 6-7 kilometers near Route 90 and into
the Evrona Nature Reserve near Eilat after the Tran-Israel oil pipeline burst on Wednesday
night. The spill had led to 80 people being hospitalized for respiratory issues in the
neighboring city of Aqaba in Jordan, according to Israeli media.
The Evrona Nature reserve, which is home to a rare population of Doum palm trees,
Acacia trees, and Dorcas gazelles, was hit hard by the spill and the clean up is presumed
to take months.
The Tran-Israel Pipeline Company said they still do not know the reason for the pipe
bursting, though some media have reported it was due to maintenance work. At this stage,
crews have begun funneling the spilled oil and are expected to finish the preliminary
clean up by the end of the weekend. However, the Environmental Protection Ministry said
the rehabilitation of the nature preserve and surrounding area could take months. "We may
have to plough some of the land and the landscape will probably be damaged as several
tractors will have to enter a delicate nature preserve," said the Environmental Protection
The Evrona Nature Preserve includes a large population of rare Middle-Eastern trees,
rodents and reptiles, and birds. The chief scientist of the Israel Nature and Parks
Authority, Yehoshua Shakedi, predicts that the spill spans 1,000 or more acres in the
Evrona Nature Reserve. "This is a flat area, and so the oil spread out over a large area
and in several flowing channels," explained Shakedi.
The Environmental Protection Ministry noted that the rare Doum palm trees in the
reserve were not in danger and that the spill did not reach the border with Jordan,
however the preserve still suffered heavy damages. One of the main concerns is that the
flooding of the oil, if not cleaned up swiftly, could spread further out into the
The Trans-Israel pipeline was built in 1957 to transfer oil from Iran to Europe, but
today is used to transfer oil between Ashkelon and Eilat. The Eilat Ashkelon Pipeline
Company (EAPC) operates the pipeline as well as several other oil pipelines in Israel.
Religious School Shut for Refusing to Admit Sephardi Students
By Israel Hayom
Zichron Yaakov Regional Council Head Eli Abutbul and the Education Ministry ordered the
closure of the Ashkenazi religious school Zichron Gavriel after parents objected to
allowing two children of Sephardic descent into the school.
Two students, brothers aged 5 and 6, were not accepted to study at the school, despite
having been with the same group of students in kindergarten. Their parents went to the
Education Ministry's appeals committee six months ago to complain that the refusal was
based on their ethnic background.
The Education Ministry, which funds about 60% of the religious school's activities,
ordered the school to accept the students, but when the two young boys arrived for their
first day, they were met by the parents of the other children, who were protesting their
acceptance to the Ashkenazi school. "It is obvious that these children are not wanted in a
class where Ashkenazi children are studying -- we must stop the abuse towards these little
children," Abutbul said.
The Education Ministry threatened to cut funding to the school. When the situation was
not resolved, the ministry decided to shut the school down. Meanwhile, the conflict
between the brothers' parents and the ultra-Orthodox community in the area has worsened.
The boys' parents say that members of the community protest outside their home and have
thrown stones causing property damage. They were even offered large sums of money to move
to another city and to enroll their children in a school there.
On Wednesday, the school sent an angry letter to the Education Ministry, holding it
responsible for keeping children out of class. "This irresponsible collective punishment
leaves 200 students in the street without any supervision, risking their safety." Attorney
Ori Keidar, who is representing the religious school, said, "We mixed [Ashkenazi and
Sephardi] students, but these children do not come from a conservative haredi
Abutbul said he would make every effort to get classes running again, with the two
Sephardi brothers enrolled. "It is obvious that they are trying to get them to leave," he
said. "The haredi community is saying that it is because one of the parents uses a smart
phone [forbidden in certain ultra-Orthodox circles], but that is just a terrible excuse."
Tzion Ratzon, a community member whose children once attended the school, said the
issue is racism against Sephardi Jews. "This is not the first time it has happened," he
said. "The Lithuanians are racist, they hate pure Sephardi people. It is absolutely
racism." Another school parent said he is not concerned about the school's closure, which
he thinks will not last. "Despite all the threats -- everything will go back to what it
was," he said.
