Terrorists Fire Four Grad Missiles at Netivot
Terrorists from Hamas-controlled Gaza fired a barrage of four Grad missiles at the town
of Netivot on Tuesday evening. The Iron Dome system intercepted two of the missiles, and
the other two exploded in open areas. There were no physical injuries and no reports of
Despite an Egyptian-brokered "ceasefire" announced by Hamas last week, terrorists from
Gaza have continued firing rockets at southern Israel. On Tuesday morning, a Qassam rocket
hit a kibbutz chicken barn, causing damage but no physical injuries. The rocket exploded
in the area of Sderot, located less than a mile from northern Gaza.
On Saturday night, Gaza terrorists fired five Grad missiles at the city of Ashkelon.
The missiles were taken out by the Iron Dome defense system. A sixth projectile, a
short-range Qassam rocket, hit the Eshkol region in the western Negev. No injuries were
reported in the attack.
Israel has refrained from any massive retaliation this week, other than hitting terror
targets from the air. On Monday, Israel submitted a formal complaint to the United Nations
Security Council not the first over the deadly rocket fire aimed at its
civilians by Gaza. The complaint condemned the incessant barrage of short and medium-range
missiles launched by Palestinian Authority terrorists from the Hamas-ruled territory over
the past week.
Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations, Ron Prosor, wrote in his letter to U.N.
Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon that one million civilians are living under the risk of
being harmed daily in the rocket attacks. He warned the international body that inaction
by the Security Council could exacerbate the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian
Authority, rather than advance peace.
Iranian VP Blames 'Zionists,' Talmud for Inciting Drug Trade
Iranian Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi condemned the 'Zionists' for inciting
global drug trade and addiction in a bid to annihilate non-Jewish communities in
accordance with Talmudic teachings, Fars News Agency reported.
Addressing a ceremony for the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit
Trafficking held in Tehran on Tuesday, Rahimi alleged that the prevalence of narcotics and
drug-addiction throughout the world is rooted in the Talmud. "The book teaches them how to
destroy non-Jews so as to protect an embryo in the womb of a Jewish mother," Rahimi
The Iranian vice-president said that the Zionists' direct involvement in the prevalence
of illicit drugs is why` "you cannot find a single addict among the Zionists." Rahimi
pointed to Iran's heavy spending and loss in the campaign against drugs, including the
loss of 4,000 lives.
"We could receive money and allow drug cargos to pass through Iran as a transit route
and end up in the western countries without leaking into the Iranian society, but our
religious teachings do not allow us to do so because paving the ground for the transit of
narcotics to the other countries is against ethical codes," he said.
Eastern Iran borders Afghanistan, the world's number one opium and drug producer.
Iran's geographical position has made the country a favorite transit corridor for drug
traffickers who intend to smuggle their cargoes from Afghanistan to drug dealers in
Europe, noted FNA.
War on Circumcision Spreads to Germany, Norway
A German court has ruled that circumcision is a criminal offense, and a Norwegian
political party has proposed a law to outlaw the religious practice. Non-medical
circumcision, practiced by most Jews and Muslims, causes bodily harm and therefore is a
crime, a Cologne court ruled.
The practice is a "serious and irreversible interference in the integrity of the human
body," the Cologne district court decided, the Financial Times Deutschland newspaper
reported on Tuesday.
The ruling involved the case of a Muslim doctor who performed a circumcision on a
four-year-old boy, who later suffered bleeding and was taken to a hospital emergency room.
The decision is likely to be appealed to the Federal Constitutional Court.
Holm Putzke of the University of Passau, who has been fighting circumcision for years,
told the newspaper, "The ruling is enormously important above all for doctors because it's
the first time that they have a legal certainty" that they are committing a crime. He
added, "The court has, in contrast to many politicians, not allowed itself to be scared by
the fear of being criticized as anti-Semitic or opposed to religion."
In Norway, Center Party official justice policy spokeswoman Jenny Klinge said she wants
circumcision to be declared illegal, a move that would jeopardize the future of the
700-member Jewish community. She told the Dagbladet newspaper that circumcision of girls
already is prohibited and that the law should be extended to males.
Circumcision is perhaps the most widely-observed religious practice among Jews. Jewish
history is marked with those who have risked their lives and many who have lost
them for upholding the mitzvah that was first performed by the forefather
An anti-circumcision movement in the United States last year was stopped when a
petition to end the practice in San Francisco was taken off the ballot because it violated
state law. Circumcision has been credited with preventing the spread of diseases,
particularly in Africa.
Sesame Street's Elmo Creates Anti-Semitic Disturbance in NYC
A man in an Elmo costume was removed from Central Park in New York City after going on
an anti-Semitic rant. The unidentified man was seen shouting obscenities in the middle of
the Manhattan landmark and was later removed by police and taken by ambulance to New
Police said that Monday's incident was not the first time he had dressed as the Sesame
Street character and gone on a racial tirade.
Videos of the incident began to circulate Sunday and show him instructing bystanders to
read "The International Jew" by Henry Ford, the automobile manufacturer who was known for
his anti-Semitic views. "I'm not making money because the Jewish costume company is
harassing me," said the man, caught on video. "That's why I'm doing it and that's why I
want people to read 'The International Jew,' because if you start your business in this
city, Jews will harass you." The man also complained that he wasn't making any money
because of "Jewish cops and company."
A spokesman for the Sesame Street Workshop, the nonprofit group that produces "Sesame
Street," released a statement on Monday saying that "The `Sesame Street' Muppets are known
the world over, and we do not condone unauthorized representations of our characters."
