Ex-Spanish PM: Khamenei Told Me 'Israel Must Burn'

By IsraelNationalNews,com

Former Spanish Prime Minister Jose Maria Aznar said Thursday that Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei personally told him in 2000 that Israel must be physically annihilated.

"In a private discussion we held in Tehran in October of 2000, Ali Khamenei told me that Israel must be burned to the ground and made to disappear from the face of the Earth," Aznar told the audience, according to a report in Israel Hayom. Aznar spoke at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs (JCPA).

Former Israeli ambassador to the United Nations Dr. Dore Gold, the head of JCPA, asked Aznar if Khamenei was "referring to a gradual historical process involving the collapse of the Zionist state, or rather its physical-military termination?"

Aznar answered, "He meant physical termination through military force." In their conversation, the Spanish diplomat added, Khamenei described Israel as "an historical cancer, an anomaly," and said that he was "working toward Iran defeating the United States and Israel in an inevitable war against them."

Israel Hayom added that Aznar also met with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Wednesday and discussed the matter with him.

Arafat Confidante Accused of Embezzling Millions of Dollars

By IsraelNationalNews.com

The Palestinian Authority's Anti-Corruption Commission has issued an international arrest warrant for Muhammad Rashid, also known as Khaled Salam, a close adviser and confidante of deceased `Palestinian' leader and infamous terrorist Yasir Arafat.

Rashid, an Iraqi Kurd, is being accused of embezzling millions of dollars from the Palestinian Authority. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Rafik Natche, head of the Palestinian Anti-Corruption Commission, said Rashid holds business interests in Jordan, Egypt, Montenegro, Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, and that the Palestinian Authority has asked all five countries to freeze his assets and extradite him.

Rashid "came to the Palestinian revolution without a penny in his pocket and became a multimillionaire," Natche told The Associated Press. "Where did he bring his money from? Of course, this is the money of the Palestinian people."

Natche said Rashid is suspected of having taken millions of dollars out of the Palestinian Investment Fund and the PLO's treasury, as well as setting up fake companies in his name and in the names of relatives. "The money and the companies disappeared," Natche said, citing documents.

Rabbi Yosef: Treating Gentiles Violates Sabbath

By YnetNews.com

What should religious doctors do if a gentile is injured in a car accident on Shabbat and is rushed to the hospital? According to Rabbi Ovadia Yosef, this does not warrant violating the sanctity of the Sabbath.

During a class on Sabbath halacha relating to religious physicians, the spiritual leader of Shas said that while doctors are expected to do everything in their power – even if it requires violating the Sabbath – in order to save Jews whose lives are in danger, the same does not apply for gentiles.

"If a gentile were to get injured in a car accident during Sabbath, and he is brought to the hospital – Israel must not treat him," he said, explaining that "if the particular procedures come from rabbis (de-rabbanan), then they might be permitted, but if they stem from prohibitions in the Torah (de-'oraita), then they are not allowed, as the Torah forbids to violate the Sabbath for gentiles."

Rabbi Yosef expounded on the problem, saying that the Mishnah Berurah explicitly says that "all religious physicians who treat gentiles on the Sabbath or violating the Sabbath; however, in reality the patients are brought to the hospital and must be treated. The doctors' license says they must treat all patients without distinction of faith or race, and if they don't, the State could revoke their license and also punish them. So what should the poor doctors do?"

The rabbi offered a halachic solution that follows a rule by which if a single person is doing the act, he is violating the Sabbath, while if two people are doing it together, they are exempt.

"The doctor who needs to operate will call on another doctor, or nurse, to hold the scalpel together and make the incision," said Rabbi Yosef, saying that "it is necessary in order for religious physicians to refrain from being put on trial for distinguishing between a Jew and a gentile on Sabbath."

Ahmadinejad Eager to Attend London Olympics, Despite 'Zion' Logo

By Reuters

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday he was keen to attend the 2012 London Olympics to support his country's athletes but that the British authorities had "problems" with hosting him, the official IRNA news agency reported.

Iran said last year it might boycott the London Olympics because it believed the event's logo, which depicts the year 2012 with four jagged multi-colored figures, resembled the word Zion and was therefore "racist." Zion is a term that refers to the city of Jerusalem and Iran does not recognize Israel.

But Ahmadinejad appears to have had a dramatic change of heart, though it was unclear whether he had made an official request to attend the games. "I would like to be among Iranian athletes in the 2012 London Olympics to support them but they (the host country) have problems with that," IRNA quoted him as saying.

Relations between Iran and Britain remain strained over Tehran's refusal to open up its nuclear program to international oversight and its failure to allay Western fears that it is seeking to develop a nuclear weapons capability. Tehran denies it has any such intentions.

About 50 Iranian athletes have qualified to take part in the Olympics so far, Iranian media have reported.
