Western Wall Plaza Prepared for 1.5 Million Visitors

Preparations are being completed for an estimated 1.5 million worshippers and other visitors that are expected to come to the Western Wall Plaza opposite the retaining wall of the Temple in Jerusalem's Old City between the eve of Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) Wednesday evening, and the end of Shemini Atzeret/Simchat Torah, about three weeks later.

Erdogan: Israel Killed Thousands of Palestinians

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan attacked Israel once again, suggesting his country's ties with the Jewish state may never be normalized.

Erdogan told CNN "For the time being, I can clearly and frankly state that the relations between Israel and Turkey have been broken on the basis of an issue that is being raised by Israel, which began when the flotilla bearing humanitarian aid was trying to get to Gaza."

He added that the flotilla "had passengers from 33 different countries and was attacked both from the sea and the air. At the end of these attacks, nine Turkish citizens died. One of them is an American citizen of Turkish descent and the American citizen's rights have not been defended by the United States."

Erdogan, who was referring to the incident on the Mavi Marmara in 2010, failed to mention that the IHH terrorists onboard the Marmara, who called themselves `peace activists,' attacked the IDF soldiers with clubs and knives and attempted to kidnap them.

"We've demanded they apologize, pay compensation, and eliminate the embargo on Gaza once and for all," he said. "If these demands are not met, relations between Turkey and Israel will never become normal again. We have nothing against the people of Israel, but against the attitude adopted by the administration of Israel."

Erdogan didn't stop there and also blamed Israel for "killing hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. They (Israel) say that Palestine is bombing and disturbing the people of Israel, and many Israelis have been killed," he said. "I would like to see accurate statistics of how many Israelis have been killed by the bombs thrown by Palestinians or with the rockets that were launched by them, 10, 20, 100, 200, how many? Please document it. Let us know.

"But on the other hand," added Erdogan, "we know that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were killed. Only as a result of the Gaza attack, thousands of people were killed. These are very clear remarks. The Israeli people are only resorting back to the issue of genocide in history."

The Turkish Prime Minister said that "if you want normalization, you have to take certain steps to restore peace and stop causing unrest. Israel possesses nuclear bombs. Israel possesses heavy weaponry. Israel possesses phosphorous bombs and weapons of mass destruction. What is it they don't have?

"They have it all, but I might ask you the same question -- what does Palestine possess? How do you think Palestine is capable of killing as many Israeli people as claimed? Let's stop deceiving each other because the human race will no longer be deceived. Everybody knows what Israel is about."

Israel's security cabinet has made a firm decision not to respond to Erdogan's verbal attacks, in an attempt to avoid further inflaming the delicate diplomatic situation with Turkey.

Survey: Obama Support Among U.S. Jews Hits All-Time Low

The support given to President Barack Obama has hit a new low, a poll by the American Jewish Committee indicated, with the incumbent president, however, still leading among Jewish voters ahead of the 2012 presidential elections.

According to the AJC's press release, the Obama's current approval vote among Jewish voters – 45% - is the lowest since the U.S. president came into office, with 48% saying they disapproved of Obama's policies. It should be noted that this most recent figure represented a 6% drop from a similar survey last year, when Obama held a 51% approval rating among Jewish voters.

The survey was taken between September 6 –21, and in fact does not gauge the responsive of U.S. Jews to Obama's speech at the UN last week, which was considered by many to be overwhelmingly supportive of Israel.

However, despite the dip in Obama's approval ratings, the majority of Jewish voters, according to the survey, would still vote the incumbent president back into office in 2012.

Dead Sea Scrolls Go Online

By VOA News %

The Israel Museum and Internet giant Google have made high-quality images of five of the Dead Sea Scrolls available for viewing online. Antiquities officials say the online project launched Monday provides unlimited access to the 2,000-year-old manuscripts, which are considered one of the greatest archaeological finds of the 20th century.

When complete, the project by Israel's Antiquities Authority and Google will have placed images of the 30,000 fragments that make up the scrolls on a free, searchable database. The scrolls scanned and placed online so far include the Temple Scroll and the Great Isaiah Scroll. The link is

The Dead Sea Scrolls contain some of the oldest known copies of the Hebrew Bible and descriptions of life for Jews and early Christians at the time of Jesus. They were discovered in the 1940s and 1950s in caves near the Dead Sea.

Over the years, Israeli antiquities officials have given scholars and researchers very limited access to the scrolls because of their fragile condition. The Israel Museum rotates the scroll sections on display every three or four months to minimize damage from exposure to light.

Web-viewers can search high-resolution images of the scrolls for specific passages, zoom in and out, and translate verses into English

Job Stimulus: Dine with Ahmadinejad, Earn $1,500

Anyone wanting to earn easy money could have pocketed $1,500 for the questionable honor of eating with Ahmadinejad in New York's fancy Warwick Hotel, where he stayed last week. He basically rented a crowd, as he customarily dines every time since he began his yearly visits that cause controversy in the Big Apple, The New York Post reported.

Protesters stood outside the hotel while one Iranian artist. One artist, whose work Ahmadinejad admires and who is routinely invited, made up excuses not to have the "privilege," according to a friend quoted by the New York newspaper.

The Warwick's Murals on 54 restaurant was closed the entire week for Ahmadinejad and his entourage. His presence provided a major headache to a local dentist whose office is next door. The New York Post reported that Dr. Nicholas Toscano, who in the past has treated presidents George W. Bush and Bill Clinton, suffered several cancellations by patients who did not want to or were afraid to be in the area.
