Deportation of 4-Year-Old Stopped

The four-year-old girl who was supposed to be deported to the Philippines was taken off the plane when it was already on the runway at the airport on Tuesday evening. The Tel Aviv District Court issued an injunction preventing the deportation of the girl and her mother following a petition filed by the "Israeli Children" group. The girl's mother has been returned to the facility for individuals who are refused entry to Israel at the Ben Gurion Airport.

Abbas to Submit Statehood Proposal to UN Chief

By VOA News

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas says an application for Palestinian statehood will be submitted to the U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon in September.

Abbas made the announcement in Sarajevo Tuesday as he completed a trip to Bosnia-Herzegovina, where he pressed government officials to support a Palestinian bid for statehood. He then traveled to Lebanon, where he will seek more support for the statehood initiative from Lebanese leaders, including President Michel Sleiman.

Bosnia-Herzegovina and Lebanon are two of 10 non-permanent members of the U.N. Security Council. Abbas is lobbying U.N. members to recognize a Palestinian state that would include the West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem - areas that Israel captured in the 1967 war.

On Saturday, the office of Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu called the Palestinian move "expected, but regrettable." The statement said Abbas had "apparently decided to avoid direct negotiations."

The U.S.-brokered talks between Israel and the Palestinians stalled last September after an Israeli moratorium on settlement building in the West Bank expired. Palestinians oppose construction on land they claim as part of a future state.

In another development, Israel carried out several airstrikes in the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip early Tuesday. Palestinian medical sources say the attacks killed one person and wounded at least four others. The Israeli military said it struck four targets, including a group of terrorists trying to fire a rocket at Israel. A rocket fired earlier from Gaza landed in the Israeli city of Be'er Sheva. No injuries were reported.

Israel Charges Al-Jazeera Journalist

By VOA News

Israel is holding a journalist for the al-Jazeera television network on charges that he belongs to the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Al-Jazeera's Kabul bureau chief Samar Allawi appeared before an Israeli military judge Tuesday and was told of the accusations. He denied the charges.

Al-Jazeera's Arabic-language network said Israeli authorities arrested Allawi on August 10 as he tried to leave Israeli-administered West Bank for Jordan. It says Allawi had been vacationing at his home village of Sebastia prior to his arrest. He carries a Jordanian passport.

The journalist's family told his employers that Israel informed them his arrest was "security-related." Israeli authorities have confirmed the arrest but refused to comment further.

PA Teaches 5-Year-Olds to Die for Allah

A Palestinian Authority kindergarten showed off what its young students had learned over the past year by having the five-year-olds act out scenes of terror and death for their families. The parents were moved to tears upon seeing their children pretend to die as "martyrs," PA media reported.

During the graduation ceremony two plays were performed – one based on "Little Red Riding Hood," the second, "The Martyr's Wedding," a story glorifying death in battle with Israel for the sake of Islam.

"Another performance named 'The Martyr's Wedding' delighted the audience due to the role-play of the children, whose acting depicted the reality of roadblocks, children, occupation, soldiers, and the children's death as Martyrs," wrote the PA daily Al-Hayat Al-Jadida, in a report picked up and translated by Palestinian Media Watch.

Book: Spies Planned to Feminize Hitler

By Ha'aretz

A new book has revealed that British spies planned to neutralize Hitler by lacing his food with female sex hormones, the Daily Mail reported. The agents hoped that by putting estrogen in the Fuhrer's food, it would curb his aggressive impulses and make him more like his docile younger sister Paula, who worked as a secretary.

British spies tried to spike Adolph Hitler's food with estrogen. It was a radical form of estrogen replacement therapy, writes Prof. Brian Ford, concocted to curb his aggressive tendencies. Ford is the author of the upcoming book "Secret Weapons: Technology, Science And The Race To Win World War II," which publishes September 20.

The human and animal hormone estrogen plays an important role in female mental health, according to endocrinologists. Low estrogen levels in the brain can lead to depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder and, according to the British Secret Service, despotism and mass murder.

Allegedly, British intelligence wished Adolph Hitler to be more like his younger sister, Paula Wolf. Wolf worked as a secretary and expressed no leanings toward ethnic cleansing. Estrogen was selected reportedly because it is tasteless and hence would pass by Hitler's food testers without being noticed.

Ford noted that the Hitler estrogen plot – turning "Herr Hitler into Her Hitler," as the Mail Online so colorfully puts it – was once of many plans Allied forces considered to break the stalemate during World War II. Other plans for gumming up the works for the Third Reich included dropping glue onto Nazi troops to affix them to impede their progress through Europe and Russia, as well as more overtly guerrilla tactics like disguising bombs as tins of fruit exported into Germany.

But intelligence insiders were reportedly quite fond of the Hitler hormone therapy idea. "Research had showed the importance of sex hormones – they were beginning to be used in sex therapy in London," writes Ford, a Cardiff University fellow and champion of popular science. "Hitler had testers who used to taste his meals, so there was no mileage in putting poison in his food because they would immediately fall victim to it."

In order for the estrogen to have been effective, it would have taken several months of regular dosages. The results would have evolved in a subtle fashion, according to Ford.

Allied documents that were recently released to the public recount not only the strange estrogen replacement therapy aims against Adolph Hitler but similarly strange food tampering plans created by the Nazis. Sausages, chocolates, cigarettes and aspirin left behind in the event of Nazi defeat or distributed in the field by spies would have served as vessels for various poisons, had Allied forces not made some key arrests in time, writes Ford.
