Israel's Technion Develops `Electronic Nose' to Detect Cancer
Researchers at Israel's Technion (Israel Institute of Technology) are developing an
"electronic nose" that can "smell" head-and-neck cancer, which often is discovered too
The initial study by the Israeli research team was recently published in the British
Journal of Cancer. The Technion scientists collected breath samples from 82 patients, some
of whom were healthy and some of whom were suffering from two different kinds of cancer -
lung and head-and-neck.
Palestinian Factions to Sign Deal in Cairo
By VOA News
Officials say Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas will sign a unity agreement in Cairo
Wednesday to end the divide that has left Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza with
rival governments. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas chief Khaled Meshaal will
attend a ceremony marking the signing. Meshaal is already in Cairo, and Abbas is due to
arrive on Tuesday.
The agreement between the Palestinian factions calls for the formation of an interim
government followed by presidential and legislative elections within a year. A top Hamas
leader in the Gaza Strip said Monday that the prime minister of the new unity government
should come from Gaza, not the West Bank.
The deal was sharply criticized by Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu last week
because Israel considers Hamas a terrorist group. He said Abbas must choose "peace with
Israel or peace with Hamas," adding "There is no possibility for peace with both."
Hamas Condemns Bin Laden Killing, Calls Him a Holy Warrior
By The Israel Project
"We condemn the assassination and the killing of an Arab holy warrior. We ask God to
offer him mercy with the true believers and the martyrs." This was the reaction of Hamas
leader Ismail Haniyeh to the killing of Osama bin Laden.
While Americans, Israelis and much of the rest of the world welcomed the death of the
man who masterminded the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the United States which killed around
3,000 people, Hamas was plunged into sadness. The Iranian-backed terrorist group, whose
official charter calls for the destruction of Israel, has fired 328 rockets and mortars at
Israeli civilians so far this year.
Haniyeh, who acts as Prime Minister in the Gaza Strip, referred to bin Laden as a
"spiritual leader" and equated his death with an "American policy based on oppression and
bloodshed in the Muslim and Arab world."
Article seven of the Hamas charter states, "Muslims will fight the Jews (and kill
them); until the Jews hide behind rocks and trees, which will cry: O Muslim!
is a Jew hiding behind me, come on and kill him!"
Israeli Prime Minister Binyanin Netanyahu, however, called the targeting of bin Laden a
"resounding victory for justice, freedom and the common values of all democracies that are
resolutely fighting shoulder to shoulder against terrorism," in a statement. Other Israeli
officials expressed concern that the death of bin Laden could provoke terror groups to
Al-Qaeda has "infiltrated the Palestinian territories with help from Hamas," Abbas
confirmed in a 2008 interview. "I can say without doubt that al-Qaeda is present in the
Palestinian territories and that this presence, especially in Gaza, is facilitated by
Hamas," Abbas told the Arabic paper al-Hayat, The Times reported.
Analysts believe that al-Qaeda is trying to establish itself in new areas, particularly
Gaza, because it is losing ground in traditional strongholds, such as Iraq.
"Under the Hamas strategic umbrella several salafis and jihadists have proliferated in
the Gaza Strip and during the last year have attacked Israeli territory with missiles and
rockets, sometimes in coordination with Hamas, sometimes independently," Ely Karmon, a
leading expert at Israel's Institute for Counter-Terrorism, told The Israel Project.
"In my evaluation these groups will try to revenge Bin Laden's death by attacking
Israel, the best U.S. ally in the region
If these attacks will produce Israeli
casualties, they could provoke an Israeli retaliation and a new crisis between Israel and
Hamas," Karmon added.
"This might empower [al-Qaeda] to do more," Theodore Karasik, the director for research
and development at the Institute for Near East & Gulf Military Analysis told Al
Jazeera. Referring to the fear of reprisal for bin Laden's death, Karasik said the younger
generation of al-Qaeda is "more vicious" and more willing to take chances.
Andrew White, known as the "Vicar of Baghdad" who runs the only Anglican Church in
Iraq, dubbed Bin Laden's death as "very dangerous" because al-Qaeda "will try to show the
world that they can and will still commit terror." He made the comments on his Facebook
Christians Must Convert to Islam or Die
By Ed Ziegler (Commentary)
"Convert or Die" is the message Christians are given in word and deed by many Islamic
fanatics in many countries. This article should convince you that Christians, as all
non-Islamic believers, are as much the target of Islamic fanatics as the Jews who they
We must acknowledge the fact that events such as those listed in this article occur
month after month perpetrated by Muslim terrorists. The cause can be most anything even a
false accusation offending Islamic sensitivities.
On April 23, 2011, Fox News stated that in addition to the atrocities Christians in
Pakistan suffer constantly being abused in public and harassed in the street by groups of
Muslim youths, they are also ostracized and impoverished by the government. Christian
persecution is further exacerbated by anti-Americanism.
On April 21, 2011, "Compass Direct News" reported that Maher El-Gohary and his 17 year
old daughter Dina tried to change their religious affiliation from Muslim to Christian on
their Egyptian national identification card. This made them the target of Islamic ill
will. After two and a half years in hiding Maher and Dina made it to France.
Masih Gill, a Christian from the city of Marda, Pakistan, was told by a group of
Muslims "Convert or Die." Masih's family is being protected thanks to the Masihi
Foundation. The Foundation is also defending Asia Bibi, a Christian woman who is awaiting
execution following her conviction on a charge of blasphemy.
According to the Associated Press, in Jakarta Indonesia, Maj. Gen. Anton Bachrul Alam
said that 19 Islamic militants were involved in a bomb plot. They had planted bombs
beneath a gas pipe near the Christ Cathedral Church. Other bombs were placed near the
church entrance and timed to explode while people were arriving. The terrorists admitted
they intended filming and broadcasting the inferno.
It was reported that on April 18, 2011, shortly after he converted from Islam to
Christianity, two al-Shabaab Muslim terrorists murdered 27-year-old Hassan Shalambod in
Somalia. It seems that some devout fanatic Muslims literally followed Mohammad's words
"Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him."
"The Catholic Culture" reported, that in Nigeria on April 7, about 1000 Muslims
attacked a Christian village, Bar Arewa, and destroyed almost every home. It has also been
reported some elderly people were burned to death.
On April 25, 2011 Fox News reported that according to the Christian persecution
watchdog group "Open Doors," more than 60 churches were burned and thousands of
Christian-owned homes destroyed in Nigeria's predominantly Muslim north. These extremely
violent riots were in response to the election of the Christian President over his Muslim
On April 11, 2011 Sheikh Al-Khatib Al-Baghdadi issued a fatwa, an Islamic ruling, "It

April 15, 2011: "Malaysia Today" reported the Muslim Organization In Defense of Islam,
comprising 20 groups, declared bloodshed against `extremist' Christians who insult and
ridicule the position of Islam in the country. What brought on such hatred? The Christians
had the audacity to print Malay language bibles.
On Jan. 21, 2011 Yohan Nese, 31 and Vasantha Sekhar Vara, 28 were arrested in Saudi
Arabia when the religious police raided an apartment where the two attended a prayer
meeting. The two Christians were charged with converting Muslims to Christianity.
On March 8, 2011, Christians Today reported that thousands of Islamic extremists went
on a rampage in Ethiopia burning dozens of churches and the homes of Christians. At least
one Christian has been killed and more than 4,000 Christians have reportedly been
displaced. The attacks occurred after a Christian was falsely accused of desecrating a
copy of the Koran by tearing it up.
Then in Egypt, Coptic Christians reported that Muslims destroyed their church and
proclaimed it as the "Al-Ramla Mosque." a spoil of war. It is widely known that on October
2010 a Baghdad church was attacked by Islamic terrorists killing some 60 Christians.
How about in Kashmir where Jihadists murdered two Christian teenagers for reading the
Bible. I wonder if they believe Jihad means "growth within" or killing for the sake of
In addition there are many other countries such as The Philippines, Kuwait, Afghanistan,
England, France etc, in which non Muslims are also subjected to atrocities by Islamic
Stop for a second and consider there are only 13 countries mentioned here. These are
far from being all the hateful terrible actions committed by Muslim terrorists even in a
week probably even in a day. Just because they immigrate to America does not mean that all
are able to drop old customs and beliefs.
It is time that the entire world stop turning a blind eye to such inexcusable
intolerance. If this violent behavior by the Islamic terrorist, 180,000,000 worldwide, is
permitted to continue without appropriate sanction we will receive the same heartless
violence in the USA. Become active and educate yourself about the Muslim fanatics.
Knesset Member: Israel Can Annihilate Iran in a Second
National Union party Chairman Yaakov ("Ketzaleh") Katz pushed the envelope of official
ambiguity Monday regarding Israel's offensive nuclear capabilities. Katz said that Israel
has the ability to destroy enemies like Iran and Syria "in a second's time."
The statement is most likely a reference to military nuclear capabilities, which Israel
has never officially admitted to possessing.
Speaking at a session of a Knesset lobby dedicated to teaching the lessons of the
Holocaust, the fiery, biblically-bearded Katz said the greatest revenge against the
Germans, who desired to annihilate the Jewish people, is the Jewish nation's fertility and
Ketzaleh opined that Israel should end the custom of bringing visiting heads of state
to Holocaust memorial museum Yad VaShem. Such visits, he said, show the dignitaries a
humiliating, Diaspora side of the Jewish nation. Instead, he said, Israel should show
visitors the pinnacles it has reached since the Holocaust and despite it. "We must show
them that we have the capability to destroy Iran within a second's time, and Syria in a
minute's time, should they dare lift a hand to us," he said.
U.S. Supreme Court to Consider Jerusalem Passport Case
The United States Supreme Court said on Monday it would hear an appeal by parents who
want Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to record Israel, not just Jerusalem, on their
son's U.S. passport.
The justices will consider whether lower court judges were correct to dismiss the
lawsuit on the grounds that it raised a foreign policy issue falling outside the
The case involves Menachem Zivotofsky, a U.S. citizen born in 2002 in Jerusalem. His
mother asked that his passport and other documents list his place of birth as Jerusalem,
U.S. diplomatic officials told her that State Department policy required them to record
only "Jerusalem" as his place of birth because the United States does not currently
recognize any country as having sovereignty over Jerusalem.
While Israel calls Jerusalem its "eternal and indivisible" capital, few other states
accept that status. Most countries including the United States maintain their embassies to
Israel in the coastal metropolis of Tel Aviv.
The Palestinians want East Jerusalem, captured by Israel in 1967, as capital of the
state they aim to establish in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, alongside Israel. Jerusalem
is home to the holiest sites in Judaism and Christianity and the third holiest site in
Zivotofsky's mother and father, Naomi and Ari, filed a lawsuit in 2003 in federal court
in Washington over the passport rule. A federal judge dismissed the case because it
involved an issue beyond the judiciary's power. An appeals court agreed, saying judges
have no authority to order the federal government to change U.S. foreign policy.
The Obama administration opposed the appeal. "The status of Jerusalem is one of the
most sensitive and long-standing disputes in the Arab-Israeli conflict," Acting Solicitor
General Neal Katyal told the Supreme Court. He said the U.S. president and the
government's executive branch have sole power in foreign affairs to decide policies about
passports for U.S. citizens born in Jerusalem.
The Supreme Court is expected to hear arguments and then rule in the case in its
upcoming term that begins in October.
