Ayalon: Iranian Missiles Can Hit Eastern USA

Israeli Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon said on Sunday that Iranian long-range missiles are capable of hitting the eastern coast of the United States.

Ayalon was interviewed by Fox News, ahead of his participation in the Israel Day parade in New York City. He will also visit Latin America during his current trip. Ayalon said that Iran is working to increase its influence there, as well as in the Middle East.

Israel Prepares for War

By Robert Berger (VOA-Jerusalem) &

The largest emergency drill ever to take place in Israel, dubbed `Turning Point 3' began Sunday morning after months of planning.

Representatives from 70 nations are participating as observers in the drill, which simulates a war with Hamas, Hizbullah, and Syria that also leads Arabs within Israel to riot and commit terrorist attacks.

Amid growing tensions with Iran, Israel is training soldiers, emergency crews, and civilians for the possibility of all-out war. Major Chezi Deutch is an officer in Israel's Home Front Command. "It is part of the overall plan to increase preparedness and readiness in the country, dealing with civil defense and with emergencies in the civilian population."

The scenarios include massive missile attacks possibly with chemical or biological weapons. What we are expecting, what we would like to see is to have the population act as they would in time of a real crisis," Deutch said.

The crisis Israel fears is a massive rocket and missile barrage on all fronts: from Iran in the East, to Syria and Lebanese Hizbullah guerrillas in the North, to the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas on Israel's southern border in the Gaza Strip.

That could happen if Israel carries out its threat to launch a pre-emptive strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. With the Iranian president threatening to wipe the Jewish state "off the map," Israel has warned time and again that it will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons. And the civil-defense drill seems to be a clear message to Teheran that the military option remains on the table.

The drill is intended to prepare the Jewish State for the worst possible scenario, beginning with a war that ignites in Gaza after a three-month escalation, bringing Israeli civilians in the Negev under rocket bombardment. The fighting then spreads to Israel's northern border, where Hizbullah opens a second front and initiates rocket fire reaching all parts of the country.

The war next engulfs Syria, and at the same time authorities must deal with uprisings among the local Arab population, including terrorist attacks against Israeli targets. At the same time, emergency services will train for other disasters such as an earthquake, an epidemic outbreak, or a hazardous materials spill.

As far as the general population is concerned, Turning Point 3 reaches its peak on Tuesday, when a nationwide siren sounds at 11:00 a.m., sending civilians to the nearest bomb shelter. The Home Front Command recently released a map showing that every Israeli citizen has come under rocket threat from either Hamas or Hizbullah, and explaining how much time a person has to reach a shelter based on his location.

Several Arab states have expressed concern with the Israeli exercise; Hizbullah terrorists have claimed that it is a front designed to conceal a planned Israeli attack.

Defense Minister Ehud Barak countered the claims last week, saying that Turning Point 3 "is a standard Home Front Command drill which was planned will in advance." Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai added, however, that the drill represents a very real scenario that could occur in wartime.

The IDF Spokesperson's Office said, "Turning Point 3 is a standard exercise which has taken place each year for the past three years. The purpose of the drill is to improve Israel's readiness and cooperation among forces for an emergency situation. The exercise will reveal areas that need improvement and point towards proper solutions."

All Israel to Turn Out for 'Turning Point 3'

By Emanuel A. Winston (Commentary)

At precisely 11 am. Tuesday June 2, air raid sirens will sound in every community throughout the country, and citizens will be told to enter safe spaces.

It has been reported that all top IDF commanders will evacuate the Kirya Command Center in Tel Aviv. The Kirya is sometimes called the "Hole" because it goes so deep underground. It's very strange that someone or some organization wants one of the most secure buildings in Israel to be totally emptied out, even up to Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi.

Once the Kirya is emptied, any internal enemy could enter and not only vacuum up vital intelligence but, they could destroy or sabotage systems; they could put chips into computers that would transfer planning and communications to hostile group (perhaps foreign); they could compromise Israel's defensive and offensive planning in real time.

Who would use the cover of a "national security exercise" to actually compromise all Israel's defenses?

The Kirya should not be evacuated - ever - thus putting the IDF Central Command center at the risk of sabotage and subversion. Shabak and Mossad should be digging into who ordered this evacuation unless, of course, there are appointed key directors who are part of such a scheme to subvert Israel.

Presumably, the top planner who could have given orders to evacuate the Kirya would have been Defense Minister Ehud Barak. You recall that, when he was Prime Minister, Barak tried to surrender 97 percent of what Yasir Arafat wanted: Judea, Samaria, the Golan Heights and all those parts of Jerusalem that Jordan occupied and desecrated for 19 years from 1948 to 1967.

As a confirmed radical leftist, kept in that office by the new Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu, Ehud Barak would be in the best position to subvert Israel's Command Center if he wanted to. Recall that he tried to drive both Israeli soldiers and Jewish citizens off the Golan Heights by claiming that the Syrian Army was about to `overrun' the Golan.

Barak failed in that mission although he did succeed in evacuating the Security Zone in Southern Lebanon in a deal with then President Bill Clinton. After running the IDF out of Lebanon in the middle of the night, he left behind a vacuum filled by Iran's proxy, Hizbullah who now have more than 40,000 missiles targeting Israel.

Let's hope that not even Barak would cat as the ultimate Quisling to weaken the Jewish nation so she would bow to the Muslim Arabs and the nefarious plans of the U.S. State Department. Let's hope I am wrong but, you readers should alert every Israeli Intelligence group and the Media you can reach.

Obama Promises Arabs Jerusalem will be Theirs

President Barack Obama and his administration told Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during a meeting last week the U.S. foresees the creation of a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, according to a top PA official speaking to WND.

"The American administration was very friendly to the position of the PA," said Nimer Hamad, Abbas' senior political adviser. "Abu Mazen (Abbas) heard from Obama and his administration in a very categorical way that a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital is in the American national and security interest," Hamad said.

Another PA official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told WND Sunday that Obama informed Abbas he would not let Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu "get in the way" of normalizing U.S. relations with the Arab and greater Muslim world.

"We were told from this new administration they will not allow a Netanyahu government to hurt their efforts of rehabilitating U.S. relations with the Arab and Islamic world, which is a high priority of Obama," the official said, speaking during a visit to Cairo.

Last week, the State Department refuted a speech in which Netanyahu said Jerusalem never will be divided. "Jerusalem is Israel's capital," Netanyahu said at an event marking Jerusalem's reunification. "Jerusalem was always ours and will always be ours. It will never again be partitioned and divided."

In response, the State Department released a statement that Jerusalem "is a final status issue. Israel and the Palestinians have agreed to resolve its status during negotiations. We will support their efforts to reach agreements on all final status issues," the statement said.

Israel recaptured eastern Jerusalem, including the Temple Mount – Judaism's holiest site – from Jordan during the 1967 Six Day War. The Palestinians, however, have claimed eastern Jerusalem as a future capital. About 244,000 Arabs live in Jerusalem, mostly in eastern neighborhoods, out of a total population of 724,000, the majority Jewish.

American Jew Avoids Jail for Giving Military Secrets to Israel

An elderly American Jew has managed to avoid receiving a prison sentence after being convicted of passing classified military information to Israel.

The case against 85-year-old Ben-Ami Kadish ended Friday with a guilty verdict on charges of spying for Israel, for which he received a $50,000 fine. However, he avoided the life sentence that Jonathan Pollard, convicted of passing classified information to Israel, received nearly 24 years ago.

Kadish was charged with passing to Israel information on nuclear weaponry, information about an F-15 fighter jet, and details about the Patriot missile air defense system. Kadish said that he did not ask for, nor did he receive compensation for passing documents to Yosef Yagur, an Israeli agent. Kadish said he borrowed the documents from his place of work at the U.S. Army's Armament Research, Development and Engineering Center, located in Dover, New Jersey.

He was arrested last year on charges of passing the documents to Israel while working at a U.S. Army armaments research center. It was unclear to the judge why it took 23 years to charge Kadish. The prosecutor explained to the judge that it was not until last year that the FBI was able to "put all the pieces together." Kadish is known to his central New Jersey neighbors as an observant Jew who helps hospitalized veterans.

The former technician told the Manhattan District Court that he was sorry for his actions. "It was a misjudgment. I thought I was helping the State of Israel without harming the United States," he said. The retiree had moved as a child to pre-state Palestine, where he fought in the Hagana against the British occupation before the re-establishment of the Jewish State, but he later returned to America after World War II.

Kadish was convicted of participating in a conspiracy to act as an unregistered agent of the Government of Israel. The Israeli government has denied knowing about his past activities. Another American convicted of aiding Israel, Jonathan Pollard, is well into his 24th year of a life sentence for one count of transferring classified information to an ally.

Pollard's wife Esther has charged that the Kadish's arrest, more than two decades after the offenses, was timed to discourage efforts to free her husband.

Government Rejects Allegiance Law

The Ministerial Committee for Legislation voted Sunday to reject a bill presented by Yisrael Beiteinu (Israel Our Home) that would strip citizenship from a person who refuses to pledge allegiance to the state, and from whoever refuses to serve in the IDF or carry out alternative national service.

Ministers from Likud, Labor, Shas and the Jewish Home voted to reject the law, known as the 'Allegiance Law' or 'Citizenship Law.' Only ministers from Yisrael Beiteinu voted in its favor.

The Yisrael Beiteinu faction voiced disappointment with the decision to strike down the bill.

"It is very regrettable that the Likud, Labor, Shas and Jewish Home factions voted today against the strengthening of the State of Israel as a Jewish, Zionist and Democratic state and made it possible to continue to harm the symbols and values of the state in whose government they sit," a statement from the faction said.

"Stopping the Allegiance Law will make it possible for people to keep on misusing their Israeli citizenship and to continue to use it against the state that they live in. Yisrael Beiteinu will continue to act for strengthening the State of Israel as a Jewish, Zionist and democratic state and will continue to fight phenomena of disloyalty and abuse of Israel's democracy," the faction stated.

Egyptian Man Rejects Arranged Marriage

By Agence France-Presse

An Egyptian cut off his penis in protest at his parents' choice of bride, a police official said. The 25-year-old laborer from the village of Sheikh Eissa in southern Egypt was taken to hospital in stable condition, the official said, adding that the man had also mutilated his testicles.

"He was in love with a woman but his parents rejected her and told him to marry another woman he didn't want. He took a knife and cut off his penis in his room." Doctors were unable to reattach the severed member, the official said.
