Discovery of List of English Names at Auschwitz Prompts Debate
By Israel Faxx News Services
A discovery made in an Auschwitz bunker revealed a list of 17 UK soldiers. It was
discovered during routine work at Auschwitz.
Some historians believe the names belong to Jewish POWs sent to the camp, while other
historian believe the 17 men comprised a British SS division that fought alongside the
Nazis in World War II.
Has Obama Cut Off Information to Israel?
Unlike the Bush administration, the staff of President Barack Obama is not coordinating
its policy on Iran or the greater Middle East with Israel and has not been informing the
Jewish state of its plans or recent diplomatic developments in area, according to sources
in Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's office.
The silence extends to U.S. talks with the Palestinians, the sources said. "Our
intention and our hope as we go to Washington is to establish close intimate cooperative
relationships on these sensitive matters," a top Netanyahu official told WND yesterday.
The official was speaking about Netanyahu's May 18th visit to the White House.
According to other sources in the prime minister's office, Israel has been obtaining
the vast majority of its information regarding U.S. plans and advances for the Middle East
from third parties, mostly European diplomats.
This is in stark contrast to Bush's eight-year presidency, during which the White House
and State Department routinely briefed Israeli counterparts on Middle East affairs to the
extent that the majority of official U.S. and Israeli statements on various policy issues
were heavily coordinated.
A recent example of the Obama administration leaving Israel in the dark was information
received by Jerusalem officials of a U.S. deadline of October for Iran to show progress in
talks over their nuclear program. That deadline was apparently set by Obama's Middle East
envoy Dennis Ross.
The information of the deadline - first reported by Ha'aretz and confirmed by WND - was
discovered in Jerusalem not via U.S. sources but from third party European diplomats who
were briefed on the matter. "Right now there is next to no communication coming to us from
the White House," said a source in Netanyahu's office.
The source warned against interpreting the matter as evidencing an anti-Israel bias
from the Obama administration. "Look, there is a new administration in the U.S. and a new
one here (in Israel)," the source said. "There hasn't been so much time yet to establish
channels." Still, the source noted the extent of the blackout on information from the U.S.
was "not usual practice."
Israeli Group Says Government Plan Cements Hold on Jerusalem
By VOA News
An Israeli rights group says a government plan to develop parks and tourist sites in
east Jerusalem will significantly change the landscape of the contested city and cement
Israel's hold there.
The group, Ir Amim, said Sunday the government plan will dramatically alter an area
that is home to sites holy to Jews, Christians and Muslims. It said it appears the changes
are being made in order to strengthen Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
Israel recaptured east Jerusalem in 1967 and annexed it after Jordanian forces occupied
it between 1948 and 1967. Palestinians hope to make east Jerusalem the capital of a future
Ir Amim says the Israeli government has largely kept the plan secret and has not
solicited input from the city's Christians and Muslims or held any public discussions on
The Israeli government says the new development will benefit all of Jerusalem's
residents. The report by Ir Amim comes ahead of Pope Benedict's first visit to Israel on
Pope Named as Defendant over Plunder of Temple Vessels
Pro-Land of Israel activists Baruch Marzel and Itamar Ben-Gvir will roll out the red
carpet for Pope Benedict XVI's arrival Monday by pressing criminal charges against
him. As the Pope arrives in Israel, the activists will be at the Jerusalem Magistrates
Court, filing a criminal complaint in which the Pope tops the list of defendants.
The criminal complaint details a record of treasures and possessions that belong to the
Jewish People that are allegedly being held in the Vatican in Rome. Among the treasures
claimed are vessels plundered from the Temple by the Romans under the command of
then-general Titus, including the seven-branched golden Menorah.
The complainants write in the complaint that "The vessels were plundered and Titus, who
burned the Temple, took them to Rome." They complain that in addition to the Menorah,
other vessels were plundered, including the Laver Basin, the Table of the Showbread, the
Golden Altar, the Copper Altar, and the Ornamental Curtain at the entrance to the Holy of
Holies. The complainants claim that at least some of the vessels are still existent in the
Vatican cellars in Rome.
The complainants add that on separate dates -- many hundreds of years later -- various
tractates of the Talmud, books of Maimonides, and around 7,500 works on Jewish philosophy
and science were stolen and remain in the Vatican library.
According to information that the complainants have access to, these books can be found
in the Vatican and some of them were on display in an international book fair. They
additionally claimed that the Vatican's vaults are controlled by the Pope and others
accused in the charge sheet. The Pope and others are accused of possessing stolen goods;
receiving items considered stolen and receiving goods that were obtained through criminal
The list of witnesses appearing on the complaint includes Israel's Chief Rabbis, Rabbi
Yonah Metzger and Rabbi Shlomo Amar, along with Rabbi Yisrael Ariel of the Temple
Institute. In addition to the criminal complaint, Ben-Gvir and Marzel intend to take legal
action to delay the Pope's departure from Israel until they receive a decision on their
The Arch of Titus in Rome depicts troops under Roman general Titus plundering Temple
treasures, including the Menorah. Throughout the ages, numerous Jewish tourists have
claimed that they saw Temple treasures in the Vatican's vaults. The Talmud details a Sage
who said that when he was in Rome, he saw the Kohen HaGadol's (High Priest's) headband
with the Divine Name inscribed on it.
But at least one archaeological researcher claims that the Temple Treasures are not
being held by the Vatican. Dr. Sean Kingsley, author of God's Gold: The Quest for the Lost
Temple Treasure of Jerusalem, has stated that the looted treasures are somewhere in the
Holy Land. "One thing is for sure it is not imprisoned deep in Vatican City," Dr.
Kingsley told the British Sunday Times in 2006.
Freedom of Speech is Fragile
By Ed Ziegler (Commentary)
For now, thank your lucky stars you live in the Untied States. For now, your freedom of
speech is protected by the First Amendment of our Constitution. That is correct I said
"for now." There are forces (Islamic terrorists, Jihadists etc.) throughout the world that
are striving to institute Shariah (Islamic) law in every country. Countries that adhere to
Shariah Law can and do restrict freedom of speech to enforce their beliefs.
When you finish this article ask yourself, is it possible that we, in the United
States, could ever lose our freedom of speech? If freedom of speech is being effectively
attacked in many countries such as Denmark, Finland, England and in the Middle East, what
makes you think the Islamists could not achieve similar successes here in the U.S.A.?
On Jan 22, 2009 Fox News reported that Geert Wilder, a member of the Dutch Parliament, had been charged with insulting Islam and will be tried for this crime, His crime was producing, "Fitna," a 15-minute movie (http://tinyurl.com/de9m5w). This film is scary and presents factual quotes from the Quran.
On Jan 26, 2009 the "Brussels Journal" reported another loss of free speech. Geert
Wilder was invited to talk to the British Parliament. However a Muslim Member of
Parliament, Lord Ahmed (considered a moderate Muslim) threatened to mobilize 10,000
Muslims to prevent Wilder from speaking in Parliament. As a result, upon landing in
England, the authorities detained Wilder and sent him right back home.
On Jan 22, 2009 Susanne Winter, an Austrian parliamentarian, was convicted for her
anti-Muslim statements which included talking ill of Islam's prophet Mohammed. Then
similarly "Earth Times" of March 28, 2009 reported a Finnish politician, Halla-Aho, was
to be tried for blaspheming Islam. It may only be in poor taste to question Islam or
Mohammed even if Muslims feel it is a crime. It is not a crime it is freedom of
In March 2009 Islamic legal scholars held a five-day conference. According to "Jihad
Watch" the International Islamic Fiqh Academy, using couched phrasing, demanded
suppression of free speech. At the conclusion, the conference urged Muslim countries to
strive to persuade other countries to make laws to protect sacred religious symbols of
The United Nation has held a number of conferences on racism, racial discrimination,
xenophobia and related intolerance. The two most notable were Durban I in 2001 and Durban
II in April 2009. At these events, as in others, the 57 members of the Organization of
Islamic Conference (OIC) had proposed that local, national and international laws and
human rights covenants be reviewed and amended as necessary so that "defamation of Islam"
is made a criminal offense. This seems to include quoting passages, by non-believers, from
In "North America," the "Council on American-Islamic Relation" (CAIR) is known to
institute and/or threaten to take legal action to suppress free speech. One such action
was in 2004 when CAIR filed a defamation lawsuit against Andrew Whitehead, one of the
founders of "Anti-CAIR," for making multiple alleged libelous remarks about CAIR.
Whitehead acknowledges he made statements such as "Let there be no doubt that CAIR is a
terrorist supporting front organization." Then in March 2006 CAIR dismissed the
CAIR called for action against a morning comedy radio program on KSFO 560-AM. The hosts
did a comedic segment about Islam and its tenets, and joked that "Islamic finance is about
living within your means and helping the needy -- unless they're Jews."
On Nov. 21, 2006, six Islamic leaders were ejected from a US Airway plane in
Minneapolis. CAIR threatened to sue, the airline and any passengers who reported that
these Imams were spouting anti-American rhetoric.
The Middle East Forum just announced the launch of the website for its legal project, located at www.legal-project.org. The site is a source of information on "Islamist lawfare" that is, attempts by supporters of radical Islam to suppress free speech on Islam and terrorism by exploiting Western legal systems and traditions
Even politically correct terminology limits freedom of speech. If the people of the
United States allow the Islamic fanatics to succeed in having Shariah law incorporated
into US law, freedom of speech will be in greater jeopardy. Be aware that the Shafi'i
manual of Islamic law `defines "slander" as "to mention anything concerning a person that
he would dislike." Nothing is said about whether or not what is said is true. Between
claiming blaspheming or slander or mention quotes from the Quran there is very little we
Even political correctness limits freedom of speech. Take 10 minutes and carefully
consider what "Freedom of Speech" means to you and if you are willing to give it up
Anti-Jewish License Plate to Be Recalled
A Springfield, Massachusetts man's personalized license plate which reads "NO ZOG" will
be recalled by the state after receiving complaints from residents who saw the plate on a
pickup truck at a gathering of neo-Nazis in last month.
Driver and Motor Vehicle Services Division spokesman David House said the department
didn't realize the message was anti-Semitic and offensive until receiving complaints.
"ZOG" is a racist acronym used by white supremacists and anti-government extremists to
stand for "Zionist-Occupied Government" and express their belief that "the Jews occupy and
control the government, as well as the media", according to the Anti-Defamation League's
online database of extremist symbols, logos and tattoos lists.
Iraq Wants Israel to Pay for Bombing Nuclear Reactor in 1981
Iraqi officials were not particularly happy with the reports that a Jewish organization
was demanding compensation for the families of Jews who fled the country upon the
establishment of the State of Israel. So the Iraqi parliament rushed to prepare a response
to the new demand in the form of a claim for damages from Israel following the
bombing of the Osiraq reactor in 1981.
The parliament's Foreign Affairs committee last week discussed the demand for
compensation from Israel following "the damages caused to Iraq" as a result of the attack
on the reactor 28 years ago. The move was initiated by Parliament Member Muhammad Naji
Mahmoud. According to Mahmoud, Iraq deserves compensation worth "billions of dollars" from
Israel, in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolution on the bombing
of the nuclear reactor.
The committee members plan to pass a bill which would require the Iraqi government to
work to obtain the compensation from Israel. Mahmoud stressed that filing a damages claim
would not symbolize any recognition of Israel.
It should be noted that Iraqi President Jalal Talabani has spoken in the past against
filing a damages claim for the bombing of the reactor, explaining that such a move would
prompt Israel "to claim billions in damages for the Jewish property."
