Senior Kadima Party Members Planning to Oust Olmert

Kadima Ministers and senior officials are now calling for Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's resignation, according to Ha'aretz, which quoted an array of unidentified "senior Kadima officials and ministers."

A senior minister in Olmert's Cabinet was quoted as saying, "The writing is on the wall. It's a matter of days until someone in Kadima will clearly call for Olmert's resignation. It is not clear how [Olmert] will get himself out of this mess, and why he continues to pull down Kadima with him.

"Even if he is able to survive until [the final report is published], it is clear, according to the interim report, that after the release of the final report he will have to resign."

Wall Street Journal Columnist: U.S.'s Al-Hurra TV Promotes Anti-Israel Agenda

According to a column by investigative writer Joel Mowbray in the Wall Street Journal's online Opinion section,, an Arabic-language satellite TV station operated by the United States government is promoting an anti-Israel agenda.

Mowbray reported that the station, established to present the U.S. perspective to the Arab world, has been broadcasting reports and feature pieces that seem to feed the anti-Semitic and anti-Israel attitudes and beliefs already conspicuous throughout the Middle East. He wrote that the situation has escaped the oversight of the US administration due to lack of communication.

Ironically, the OpinionJournal columnist noted, the anti-Western and anti-Israel bias situation at Al-Hurra was better controlled under the previous station director, a Muslim of Lebanese background.

As an example of the current bias at Al-Hurra, Mowbray described a feature story the station broadcast in January on the tiny fringe Jewish group Neturei Karta, some of whose members took part in a Holocaust denial conference hosted by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad last year.

According to Mowbray: "The Neturei Karta were presented as mainstream Orthodox Jews, and Al-Hurra claimed that they number more than one million. The story's angle is clear from the anchor's introduction: 'They always put Israeli officials in a bind, who can't seem to understand how Jews can oppose Zionism, or how a Jew can encourage Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad in his opposition to Israel.' Various Neturei Karta members uttered outrageous falsehoods about supposed 'Zionist' cruelty, including 'torture, detention, [and the] burning of their synagogues.' None of these libels were challenged, let alone debunked."

During a December report on the Iranian Holocaust denial conference, Mowbray wrote, Al-Hurra correspondents treated Ahmadinejad and the gathered Holocaust deniers "with unmistakable deference." Among those attendees whose comments went out over the air unchallenged were the well-known American racist politician and former Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, and French Holocaust denier and anti-Semite Robert Faurisson. The former offered praise for the Iranian president and the latter told Al-Hurra viewers that the Holocaust "is completely untrue, and an historical lie."

Mowbray provided additional details of the December 12th Al-Hurra report from Tehran's Holocaust denial conference: "The Al-Hurra reporter... referred to those who believe Hitler killed six million Jews as 'Holocaust supporters.' He took a swipe at the handful of conference attendees who didn't deny the Holocaust, by noting that they 'didn't enforce their statements with scientific evidence.' In closing the piece, he referred to Israel as 'the Jewish state on Palestinian lands.'"

It is not just denial of the Jewish past on Al-Hurra that strikes columnist Mowbray as troubling, but the platform given to Hizbullah terrorist leader Hassan Nasrallah for a full, one-hour-plus speech he delivered live on December 7, 2006. In the subsequent 13-minute phone interview with a member of Lebanon's government, Mowbray tells his readers, the Lebanese official "accused the Hizbullah leader of not being anti-U.S. and anti-Israel enough."

Al-Hurra receives an annual budget in excess of $70 million from the US government with almost no oversight.

Speaker of PA Legislature: Kill Every Last Jew & American

In a televised address to a packed mosque, the Acting Speaker of the Palestinian Authority's Legislative Council called for the killing of every last Jew and American. His speech and murderous prayer were delivered in an unidentified packed mosque and broadcast on an official PA-controlled television station.

According to a recording and transcript of the April 20th broadcast, translated and provided by Palestinian Media Watch, PLC Acting Speaker Ahmed Bahr called the Jews "the cancerous lump... in the heart of the Arab nation." He predicted that "America is on its way to disappear. America is wallowing [in blood] today in Iraq and Afghanistan. America is defeated and Israel is defeated, and was defeated, in Lebanon and Palestine."

Adopting the open-palmed gesture of Islamic prayer, as did his audience, the PA official intoned: "Allah, take hold of the Jews and their allies, Allah, take hold of the Americans and their allies.... Allah, count them and kill them to the last one and don't leave even one."

This is not Bahr's first appeal for genocide of the Jews and Americans. Just one week earlier, on April 13th, Sudan television broadcast a fiery sermon delivered by the PA legislator in a Sudanese mosque. At the conclusion of his remarks, the Sudanese worshipers opened their palms in supplication and Bahr prayed:

"Oh Allah, vanquish the Jews and their supporters. Oh Allah, vanquish the Americans and their supporters. Oh Allah, count their numbers, and kill them all, down to the very last one. Oh Allah, show them a day of darkness. Oh Allah, who sent down His Book, the mover of the clouds, who defeated the enemies of the Prophet – defeat the Jews "...we are eager for death..." - PA Speaker Ahmed Bahr and the Americans, and bring us victory over them."

According to the translated transcript and video of the Sudan speech, provided by the Middle East Media Research Institute, Bahr called Muslims "the masters of the world" and predicted, as he did in the PA mosque the following week, that "America and Israel will be annihilated, Allah willing."

Jews and Americans, the PA official declared, citing "the Book of Allah," are "cowards, who are eager for life, while we are eager for death for the sake of Allah."

Firmly swearing that terrorism against Israelis will continue, Bahr said, "Our Jihad-fighting Palestinian people salute its brother, Sudan." The PA official appeared on the Sudanese television even as Muslim fundamentalists and Arab nationalists in Sudan are engaged in a war of extreme violence against Black Africans of all religions in the Darfur region.

Ex-CIA Chief: I Prevented Pollard Deal in 1998

Former CIA chief George Tenet claims, in a new book, that he was the person who prevented the release of Jonathan Pollard during the Wye Plantation talks in October of 1998.

The talks, between then-Prime Minister of Israel Binyamin Netanyahu and then-head of the Palestinian Authority Yasir Arafat, were brokered by President Bill Clinton and focused on an Israeli withdrawal from most of the biblical city of Hebron.

In his book "At The Eye of the Storm," Tenet said that Israel had demanded that Pollard – who had been convicted of spying for Israel in 1985 – be released from jail, as part of a deal in which Netanyahu agreed to the Hebron withdrawal.

According to Tenet, the senior American staff at Wye Plantation, including Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and National Security Advisor Sandy Berger, held a meeting on the evening before the signing of the accords. In that meeting, Berger told Tenet – "you should know that Netanyahu has put [the matter of] Pollard on the table."

Tenet said he got up and stormed out of the room at that point, saying "you are wrong. Berger ran out after him, but Tenet was adamant, calling the idea "ridiculous" and insisting that the Pollard issue had nothing to do with the matters being discussed at Wye. Berger then told him, according to Tenet's account that President Clinton had not yet agreed to anything.

Tenet claims he spent the next hours choosing his course of action. "If Pollard was in the final package deal, no one at CIA headquarters would believe I had nothing to do with it," he thought. He concluded that his career as the head of the CIA would be destroyed if he agreed to the deal.

As Tenet tells it, the senior Administration staff wanted the deal but was afraid of his resignation. Tenet asked for a private meeting with President Clinton. At that meeting, Tenet wrote, he told Clinton that if Pollard is released, he would no longer be CIA chief in the morning.

The next morning, October 23, 1998, Netanyahu placed pressure on Clinton to agree to release Pollard, and threatened to leave without signing the accord. The then-Israeli defense minister, Yitzchak Mordechai, tried to talk Tenet into agreeing. Special US Middle East Coordinator Dennis Ross reassured Tenet and Clinton that Netanyahu would not walk out, and in the end, that is what happened: Netanyahu signed the accord and Pollard remains in prison to this day.

It should be noted that at least one account Tenet gives in his book, of a conversation he supposedly had with defense expert Richard Perle, is being disputed as fictional by Perle and others.

A Christian Zionist Speaks Out: Major Upheaval in Israel?

By David Ben-Ariel (Commentary)

Will an earthquake shake Israel to its foundations and rock the world? Would the destruction of the Western/Wailing Wall and the demolition of the "Dome of the Rock" and Al-Aksa mosques—by an act of God—serve further notice that it's time to build the Temple? The Western Wall would have served its purpose and an earthquake could clear the way for major changes. May the Israelis have a new attitude and act upon it, saying, "Let's move on up to where we should be praying: in the Temple upon the Temple Mount!"

I believe a miracle—a supernatural disaster (a blessing in disguise)—will take care of the militant Muslim symbols of occupation. I'm not calling for any individual to blow up the mosques! However, if the Israeli government finally gets its act together and decides to exercise Israeli Sovereignty over the Temple Mount, I'd gladly encourage them to restore Judaism's holiest site to the Jews. After all, this June will mark the 40th anniversary of the initial liberation of the Temple Mount during the Six Day War - a missed opportunity to reclaim the holiest land in the Promised Land of Israel for the People of Israel.

Despite this public record, I've been deported from Israel (as reported on the front page of The Jerusalem Post, January 8, 1996) for alleged involvement in a plot to "damage the mosques." Before my deportation I was held in Jerusalem's corrupt Russian Compound for three weeks as a politico-religious prisoner. I'm still fighting this injustice and, with God's help, expect to return and receive Israeli citizenship.

Barry Chamish, in his book, Traitors and Carpetbaggers in the Promised Land, attributes my unjust deportation to an article published in The Traveller magazine in Jerusalem, where I expose a Vatican-German plot to take over the Temple Mount in the Old City for their nefarious purposes.

The Temple is to serve as a national reminder that God's central to our existence and should be our focal point. It's understood that the mere presence of a Temple doesn't necessarily mean that God's Presence is with us. Twice God's glory left the Temple and Judah was scattered. To avoid making the same mistake again, we must ensure God finds a stable home in our loving hearts and minds—not only welcomed in, but invited to stay (Jer. 31:33).

Will the sacrifices start soon? The Cornerstone gets put in place and the Temple rebuilt? And will Europe's new Antiochus Epiphanes force his way into the Temple and proclaim himself "God"? Supposedly the pope wants Jerusalem to become an "international city"—in reality he plans on making it his cultic headquarters based upon the accursed UN Resolution 181! Who would stand up and oppose this intrusion? Who would denounce this gross violation of Israeli sovereignty? Who would speak out against this folly? "Elijah…" - the chief spokesman between Two Witnesses who will testify from Jerusalem before a world court.

David Ben-Ariel, a Christian-Zionist writer and author of Beyond Babylon: Europe's Rise and Fall, shares a special focus on the Middle East, reflected in hard-hitting articles that help others improve their understanding of that troubled region. He also publishes the Beyond Babylon blog.
