Iranian President Again Vows Israel´s Annihilation
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Thursday repeated his vow to annihilate Israel
and its "evil regime." Speaking at a Jakarta rally, he attacked Western countries for
supporting Israel. The president also repeated his charge that the Holocaust is a myth.
"The West claims that more than six million Jews were killed in World War II and to
compensate for that they established and support Israel. If it is true that the Jews were
killed in Europe, why Israel should be established in the East, in Palestine?" he asked.
And Israel's Technion launched an advanced rocket engine this week with the help of
students who designed and launched it with a sold fuel platform. The 198-pound rocket is
designed to travel farther and faster than previous rockets.
Neo-Nazi Gangs Assaulting Ultra-Orthodox Jews
One week after the desecration of the Great Synagogue in Petah Tikva, nothing remains
of the horror the worshipers encountered there last Thursday when they arrived for morning
prayers. The walls, which had been sprayed with swastikas and blasphemy, have been newly
painted, the floor polished and the curtain covering the Holy Ark replaced.
However, the danger is far from over. For the past two years the ultra-Orthodox
community there, which includes some 5,000 families and 300 synagogues, has been subjected
to incessant attacks by street gangs from the former Soviet Union. The gangs have been
beating ultra-Orthodox men, hurling curses at them and desecrating synagogues.
"These youths feel out of place in the Russian community they belong to, but they are
not accepted in Israeli society either," says Bella Alexandrov, the director of the
multi-disciplinary youth center in Petah Tikva. She distinguishes between two kinds of
immigrants - punks and skinheads.
"The skinheads buy Russian videos about 'white power' that call for cleansing Russia of
Jews. They don't get it from home. It comes from not belonging and not finding answers to
On Sukkot eve last year, a number of teens bearing knives burst into the big Lithuanian
yeshiva Or Israel on Rothschild Street in the city center. They started beating pupils,
and throwing prayer books and scriptures on the floor.
Yeshiva head Rabbi Yigal Rozen has no doubt that these incidents are anti-Semitic.
"There has always been violence in Israel, but never directed at synagogues. This started
only in recent years. A month after the Sukkot incident, two yeshiva students were
attacked and beaten up by Russian teens. The police arrested three of the attackers," he
Most of the victims were dressed like ultra-Orthodox Jews, Rozen says, and therefore
concludes that the assailants could not be Jewish. "It's time the police realized these
are anti-Semitic attacks. These gangs are not after money. The charity boxes were not
robbed, nor were the Torah books, which are worth a fortune," he says.
Many of the incidents occur in the parks in the city center because numerous low-income
immigrant families from Russia live there, says Rahamim Arbel, Jewish cultural coordinator
for Petah Tikva's community centers. "On Friday nights Russian teens gather in parks with
lots of alcohol and bongs. It's very unpleasant for the residents of the neighborhood," he
Arbel himself was attacked two years ago. He was with his small son and two friends,
and they were returning from a lesson. On Rothschild street they were accosted by a group
of drunk teenage boys and girls, aged 15 to 16. "They started swearing at us. I whispered
to the others to walk away. The girls ran after us spitting and kicking. We fled. I got
over it but my son will never forget that day," he recalls.
An elderly man was attacked on Friday night a year ago but did not go to the police. "I
live in the center, near a park where the Russian gangs gather on Friday nights. Returning
from a family visit I approached the park," he says. "A few boys demanded money and
threatened me with a broken bottle. I told them I had no money because it was the Sabbath
and went on walking. They knocked my hat off, kicked my shin and started kicking my hat. I
tried to run and they followed me, cursing and throwing empty beer bottles. They were
definitely harassing me because of my religious dress, because others passed by
undisturbed," he says.
"My parents survived the Holocaust. I come from exile and know what persecution is; and
that's what I felt. Their appearance and the chains around their necks reminded me of
neo-Nazis," he says.
Acting Mayor Paltiel Eisental tries to be reassuring. The relations between the city's
secular and religious residents are very good, he says. This is a small gang, not a
widespread trend, he says.
"You must distinguish between vandalism due to theft and what happened in the Great
Synagogue last week, which was brutality and hatred. I don't believe Jews could have done
that. Those were acts aimed against a nation, against an idea. It's Nazism," he says.
The city council held an emergency meeting last week after the synagogue's desecration,
and decided to safeguard the synagogue and find the vandals and indict them.
Eisental says the city has a vandalism patrol in problem areas, but is having trouble
reinforcing it due to a personnel shortage. "Every Chanukah we put a nice big menorah at
the yeshiva's entrance, right on the street," says Rabbi Rozen. "This year we were forced
to put a security camera on it so that it wouldn't be vandalized," he adds sadly.
Arab Knesset Member: Palestinian Citizenship for Settlers
The head of the Islamic Movement, Knesset member Ibrahim Sarsur (United Arab
List-Ta'al), has proposed a new solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict Thursday
during a meeting with rabbis and Islamic religious leaders: Allow settlers to remain in
their settlements and be citizens of a future Palestinian state that will be established
in the territories.
"As head of the Islamic Movement, and I am sure you will be surprised, I inform you
that we are prepared to have the settlers stay in their places as residents of a
Palestinian state. This should be encouraged. It would be exactly as Israeli Arabs live in
Israel, and it is a better solution than exchanging territory. I don't understand why
settlers couldn't live in Palestine?" Sarsur asked during the meeting sponsored by Kedem
(Voices for Religious Reconciliation).
Sarsur is convinced that leaving settlers in West Bank lands, which will become a
Palestinian state is the best option considering the present circumstances. "Despite the
fact that they took over the land, I support their continued residence there. Maybe if
they live there and we as Israeli Arabs live here, we can all live peacefully together."
However, in Sarsur's view settlers and Israeli Arabs aren't in an exactly equivalent
situation. "The difference between settlers and Israeli Arabs from an historical
perspective must be taken into consideration," he said. "We have a right to the land and
they went to live there for political reasons."
Israel to Release Funds to Palestinians
By Jim Teeple (VOA-Jerusalem)
Israel has agreeded to release tens of millions of dollars to agencies working to
prevent a humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territories. Israel said it is also
considering easing restrictions at the main cargo crossing point into the Gaza Strip.
Israel said it would join the so-called Middle East Peace Quartet efforts to ease a
growing humanitarian crisis in the Palestinian territories by releasing some of the
customs and tax revenue it collects on behalf of the Palestinian Authority.
Earlier this week the Quartet, made up of Russia, the European Union, the United
Nations and the United States agreed to establish a temporary financial mechanism that
would funnel aid to Palestinians, while bypassing the Hamas-controlled Palestinian
Israel said it would join the effort. Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni said Israel would
release an unspecified amount of money it has collected in the form of tax and customs
revenue for humanitarian purposes. She added that the money may be used to pay electricity
and water bills to keep hospitals functioning, as well as for medicines and other health
Israel's foreign minister said Israel would not allow any of the money it has collected
to go directly to the Palestinian Authority, or to pay the salaries of Palestinian
Israel normally collects about $50 million a month in customs and tax revenue and
nearly all the money has in the past gone to paying the salaries of an estimated 150,000
Palestinian Authority employees. They have now gone more than two months without being
paid, since Israel froze the money transfers following the Hamas takeover of the
Olmert Seeks Bush's Approval to Divide Jerusalem
By Emanuel A. Winston (Commentary)
Prime Minister Ehud Olmert is coming to America on May 23 to seek approval and billions
of American taxpayers' dollars to divide Jerusalem. He also wishes to force transfer the
Jews of Judea, Samaria, the Jordan Valley, and the Golan Heights. Then after he cleanses
the Land of Jews, he will turn it over to the Arab Muslim Palestinians to include Hamas,
Al Qaeda and Al Aksa, which will fill the vacuum as Hizbullah did in Lebanon, and as Hamas
is doing in Gaza.
Olmert follows the earlier planning of ethnic cleansing by former Prime Ministers
Yitzhak Rabin and Shimon Peres, followed by Ehud Barak, Bibi Netanyahu and finally Sharon
- to drive out the pioneering settlers and, leaving homes, farms, roads, factories,
schools, synagogues, electrical and water systems so the millions of Arab Muslims
Palestinians can move in and take over.
Such "Jews" have long passed the threshold of assimilation and are now wholly alienated
from their Jewish roots. Only when it is politically necessary do they sprinkle some
"Jewish Dust" upon themselves - perhaps by donning a Kippah - and pretend to be Jews.
But, neither a day nor a year has gone by without an irrevocable pledge by the Muslims
to eliminate the Jewish State. Down through the centuries there was the mistaken belief
that, through treaties, agreements, retreat from territory and money bribes that the
Muslims of Islam could be appeased and they would agree to cease their Koranic-driven
aggression and abandon their ideology of conquest for Allah if the gesture of pacification
was large enough.
But, it never happened, because the bedrock of Islam as a Koranic mandate of Islam is
either awaiting strength to conquer or has achieved that strength and then move on to
A Muslim may sign any agreement with an `infidel' (non-Muslim) but may break it at a
time of their choosing and attack. The West has never come to grips with the immutable
laws that drive Islam. The greatest offenders presently in not recognizing the
irreversible goals of the Islamists are the Israelis and the leftist Jews in America.
America, however, is first learning this lesson in Afghanistan and Iraq, coming in as
rescuers only to be betrayed by the very people we saved.
They cannot believe that a deal cannot be struck if the payment (money) is sufficient.
They (the Jews) cannot understand that the only payment acceptable to Islamists is for
Jews to abandon their religion and no longer be a claimant to the Land based upon its gift
by the God of Abraham.
So now a lowly, unprincipled man will come to America to solicit Bush's approval, along
with $10 billion or more of American taxpayers' dollars and collaboration to divide the
Land of Israel as a useless, temporary bribe to Arabs who will take the gift in
anticipation of taking it all.
Ehud Olmert is basically a weak man whose domain has always been in the shadows of back
room dealing. There is nothing noble or even likeable about the man. He meets the criteria
of the lowest form of politician and is certainly no leader who inspires confidence.
Greedy, grasping and little or no connection to what would be called Jewish national
Olmert's frequent proclamations following Shimon Peres that Israel must make every
effort to maintain the Jewish character of the state is ludicrous. They have often shown
their loathing for the Torah Laws and those who adhere to the Commandments and the 613
attendant Laws of Ethics (Mitzvot), which the Kadimites find too restrictive
There are many Jews born of Jewish mothers who consider being identified as a Jew is a
gross insult. Granted - like Arabs with their misuse of `Hudnas' (temporary and false
peace gestures) these `un-Jews' also pretend in misleading declarations that they are,
indeed, bound to their Jewishness and the Land when neither is true.
They not only despise their own roots but, they also despise those observant Jews -
like the pioneering settlers, even more. Olmert's claim that he will keep the Jewish
character of the nation by forcing dedicated Jews off their Land is clearly the mark of a
leftist un-Jew who despises the Jewish character of the nation.
Olmert and a gang of Kadimites `cum' Ca'ananites are coming to descend on Washington
like a plague of insatiable locusts. They want billions of American taxpayers' dollars so
they may divest the Israeli Jewish nation of a large part of Jerusalem and an even larger
part of what is already a minuscule State of Jews. They wish to abandon every holy site
including Jerusalem, Hebron (the burial cave of Abraham and his family) and all other holy
sites that draw Jews to the Land that God gave to the Jewish people in perpetuity.
They expect President Bush to appease the Arab oil sheiks and the terrorists of Islam
by agreeing to fund the division of Jerusalem and other vital parts of Israel. I wonder if
the Jews and Christians of America will stand for this raid on the treasury so Olmert and
Bush can slap the face of God.
Everyone, every Jew, every Christian must protest in anger Olmert's proposal to divide
the eternal Capital of the Jewish people despite what the Arabist State Department wants.
President Bush must be notified by letter, Email, FAX and above all, visits by Jewish and
Christian groups denouncing this perfidious plan.
We, in America, do not need further and greater catastrophes visited upon us for
driving the Jews out of the Land God gave to them. From the moment Olmert arrives on
American soil he must be greeted with the disdain he deserves. Every congressman should be
notified that should they vote a budget to divide Jerusalem, they can start looking for
As for George Bush being a co-partner in funding the division of Jerusalem and further
encouraging the abandonment of the Land, please let him know he will be marked as a modern
day Cain for the rest of his life.
Let Congress and the President know how you feel about being the signatory to the
division of Jerusalem, the Holy, Eternal Capital of Israel and the Jewish people.
